Meet Dr. Leonard Hock

Leonard R. Hock, D.O., CMD, is the Senior Vice President of Medical Services for Covenant Hospice.

Dr. Hock serves on the Governing Board of the American Medical Directors Association (AMDA) and chairs the organization’s House of Delegates. Prior to coming to Covenant Hospice, he has served as Medical Director for various nursing homes, assisted living facilities, hospices, and hospital-based geriatric clinics in Kansas City, Missouri for over 20 years.

Dr. Hock served as the FOX 4 Television News doctor in Kansas City for thirteen years. He was seen by thousands of viewers daily who watched him speak on important health topics that mattered to them. He is a local, regional and national presenter on medical, scientific, and cultural issues.

His work as a Medical Director has been widely recognized and he served on the Missouri Best Practices Committee – a state and private provider committee that gets things done for the frail and elderly in nursing facilities. He was appointed to a Kansas Medicaid work group focusing on end-of-life issues for nursing home residents. Dr. Hock was recently an officer of the Missouri Association of Long Term Care Physicians and the Kansas Medical Directors Association. His work on both of those AMDA state chapters lead to closer relationships with state organizations.

Dr. Hock was born and raised in rural Oklahoma. He served in Vietnam as an Army medic in a small field hospital. There he was awarded the Army Commendation medal. He attended the Kansas City College of Osteopathic Medicine, graduating in 1976, and where he continues as a guest professor of geriatrics. His internship was in Dallas and his internal medicine residency was in Kansas City. Dr. Hock is board certified in Internal Medicine with a CAQ in Geriatrics. He is also boarded in Hospice and Palliative Medicine.

Dr. Hock’s energy and interest is in medical direction and the improvement in patient care that doctors can make by becoming leaders.   Contact Dr. Hock at (850) 202-5814.
