If you were to think about your life story, how would it read? For Teri Howard, Director of Branch Operations for Covenant Hospice, in the footnotes would be all the patients and families who she has had the honor to help when they needed it most. For years, those dealing with end-of-life issue have been relying on people like Howard, and their family, friends and loved ones.

Howard says that it’s the life stories of patients and families that she likes most about her career with Covenant Hospice, which teach her how to value every day. “To witness the strength and compassion of a young mother preparing to say goodbye to her children and leaving behind her spirit, devotion and most of all unconditional love to support, comfort and sustain in them for the rest of their lives is simply awesome,” said Howard.

Howard believes that it’s the life stories of Covenant Hospice patients that help her. “The stories teach me to stay focused on what’s important in my own life. Family, friends and loved ones,” said Howard. She feels blessed with the love and support that she receives from her husband James and their three children, and feels that they inspire her to believe in the power of love, hope and faith.

Howard plays an important role in the lives of Covenant Hospice patients and their families, by ensuring they receive the supportive and sensitive care necessary to meet the spiritual, emotional and physical issues they faces in the final chapter of their life stories. She is determined that her patients receive excellence in end-of-life care, therefore she is certified in Hospice and Palliative Care, and is a member of the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO).
