Sharing the Vision

For the last 6 years, one of the main reasons that Kitty Bradshaw gets up every day and goes to work at Covenant Hospice is because she feels that everyone there shares her vision of what hospice care should be. Bradshaw, a registered nurse for 40 years, has had other careers in real estate, child day care and as a small business owner. However, she has a self-proclaimed “heart for hospice.”

Bradshaw currently serves as a Community Educator for Covenant Hospice, a not-for-profit organization that cares for patients dealing with end-of-life issues and their families. As the position title suggests, she is responsible for educating the community, physicians and healthcare facilities about the difference hospice care can make to a patient and to the patients family.

Bradshaw is committed to keeping her promise for excellence in end-of-life care to her patients and their families, “I try to always have a ‘can do’ attitude, and to be open to change and improvement,” said Bradshaw. Over the years she has been able to see first hand what a difference she can make in the lives of others, something that she thinks she learned from her father. “He taught me many lessons, including compassion and the acceptance of others,” said Bradshaw.

Her vision of compassion and helping others does not stop at Covenant Hospice. Bradshaw serves on the Board of Directors for the Case Management Society of the Gulf Coast and the Alzheimer’s Foundation of the South. She also volunteers her time with the American Heart Association, serves as a CPR instructor and is involved in the area Chambers of Commerce.
