The Face of Covenant

Willie Nix

If you work or live in the Marianna area, chances are you know or have heard of Willie Nix. For almost two decades, Nix has served as a Home Hospice Aid with Covenant Hospice caring for patients and their families who are dealing with end-of-life issues. “I just try to show each and every patient a lot of love,” said Nix.

Covenant Hospice uses a team approach to care, called the Interdisciplinary Team, which includes physicians, nurses, social workers, chaplains, bereavement specialists, home hospice aids and volunteers. However, as a home hospice aid, Nix provides many personal care services and therefore usually develops one of the closest bonds with the patients. “I tell patients that as a team, we are going to show them love and give them the best care available,” said Nix.

With over 17 years of experience with caring for Covenant Hospice patients, one can just image the impact that Willie Nix has made in the lives of local Marianna patients and their families. “I usually can’t walk down the street without someone recognizing me or thanking me for helping their loved one, but I am just glad that I could be apart of their lives,” said Nix.

Nix credits Gods blessings, and his parents for instilling in him the need to care for others. “My mother and father taught me and my 6 brothers and 2 sisters about caring and compassion, and now I teach that to the grandchildren and great-grandchildren,” said Nix. Without even trying, Willie Nix has truly become “the face” of Covenant Hospice in the Marianna area.
